Childhood most Favorite Candies and Snacks



               Who would forget the Filipino snacks and candies? Every 1990's kids knows this kinds of snacks and candies during their times and who will forget the taste and sweetness of all time favorite snacks and candies that which will not completes you childhood memories. When i was a kid, i've always carrying snacks and candies, everytime i go to school. I love to these foods and it gives happiness and joy to me and also i shared my snacks and candies to my classmate to have some fun while eating. Nothing compares the simple things that gives joy and experience during our youth days. It feels so good to look back on your younger years and i recall how basic and uncomplicated life was then.

              But nowadays most of all time favorite filipino snack and candies are nothing to be found around the sari-sari stores and grocecies. It so sad to say that those snacks and candies are never to taste it again. But the other snacks and candies are still available in sari-sari stores and groceries, so get ready for a full-on nostalgia moments  Here’s some Filipino childhood snacks and candies that are still available today:


1. Mik-Mik

         MIk-mik is a choco-milk powder that have a straw to sip powder inside the pack. It is best-selling Filipino childhood snack before. But before sipping the mik-mik powder, you must be careful of sipping though as you might cough when sipping the straw. When i was a kid, i used mik-mik powder before as a smoke cigarette and acting like an matured adult and playing with my childhood friends.

2. Haw-haw Milk Candy 

            Haw-haw candy is a milk mini bar candy that have a creamy and sweet taste. It is the most popular candy when i was a kid. I remember when i was in elementary days , i always buy this candy because it is affordable (1php=2pcs) and also of its taste of milk. Sometimes i buy haw-haw candies and poured it out in the cup with hot water and i stir until it dissolves and ready to drink.

 3. Pochi Candy 

               Pochi candy is the softest candy that i ate when i was kid. It is usually saw on the recess tray during break time and i love these candy because double flavor which on the top is strawberry and other one is milk. Every time i buy pochi, i was so happy because of the memories that i remembered when i ate pochi candy it gives smile on my face.

 4. ChocNut or Hany

           ChocNut is a tiny peanut milk chocolate bars are probably one of those filipino snacks that gained most fame. It is my stress reliever before. Whenever i have a problem, i just go to sari-sari to buy chocnut.

5. Stik - O 

        Stik-O is a round bar stick that have two flavors (Waffer and Chocolate or Milk). It is usually on the sari-sari stores and recess tray in school. I buy stik-O  together with mik-mik and i used to play as my ciggarette filled the mik-mik powder inside the hole of stik-o and pretending adult taking cigarette.

 6. Yakee /Pintoora Bubble Gum

            Yakee and Pintoora Bubble Gum mostly buy the kids for making them while eating. The difference between yakee and pintoora gum is the Yakee gum has a sour in first taste but it will fade while chewing, in Pintoora gum has a food color that colours your mouth.

 7. Ube and Langka candy 

              Ube/Langka candy is a combination of two flavors which is ube and langka (it is obvious) that usually purchase on the sari-sari store even nowadays. It was delicious candy that made of natural ingredents and i love it.

8. LA-LA Chocolate 

             Ever tasted LA-LA? It is so good chocolate bar with sweetness in every bite. Apparently L.A.-L.A. is an acronym for the person behind this pastillas like chocolate bar namely Louie, Arlene, Leonisa and Arlete. this is iconic candy has been making every Filipino's heart while having a bite of it.
